"Teaching Nature Awareness and Stewardship"

"[Forests are] the 'lungs' of our land, purifying the air and
giving fresh strength to our people."

-- Franklin D. Roosevelt

Accomplishments for 1999

Don authored a nature awareness handbook for Cub Scouts and developed a patch they could earn by completing the course.

The committee received $7,000 from the $6,000 grant request.  The grant was used to publish 9,600 handbooks that were distributed to each council.  Funding allowed six volunteers to attend a Master Educator course.

The committee implemented additional programs for Timberline Junior Leader Training, and Cub Scout Day Camp.

The nature awareness and conservation message reached 1,767people during 1999.
