"Teaching Nature Awareness and Stewardship"

Nature Awareness Workshop
and Trainer Course


The nature awareness and stewardship workshop and LNT Trainer course were held at Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron New Mexico.  The workshop staff included 9 young men preparing to teach at NOAC in July.  They taught approximately 350 Philmont youth staff members.  Following the workshop 14 participants completed a Leave No Trace Trainer course provided by adult volunteers.  Philmont staff will teach nature awareness and stewardship to approximatley 22,000 participants through the summer.  Course instructors included the national LNT and Tread Lightly! coordinators for the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.
