Whats New on the Site?

Good question.  On this page we will provide an updated list with links to the latest updates.  Updates will be dropped from this list after six months.  Check back often as we update much more often than most websites.

We need your help to identify additional features to add or links to include on the site.  Please contact us with your ideas.  We would also like you to send us scans or photos of your nature awareness collectibles (memorabilia) and photos of your nature awarness activities.

Updates:

August 23, 2009:  Steve Gale provided a link to WildObs which can be found by clicking on "Additional Links" then "Other Links".  Greg Harmon provided information for a Virginia Master Educators course for the Boy Scouts of America.  It's great to have such a proactive leader to be on top of the course so far in advance of the activity.  Registration information has also been added for the Connecticut Master Educators course the end of October.

April 22, 2009:  Howard Kern suggested ROAR add the following information to their website:

The National Park Service recently announced the new NPS-BSA Scout Ranger award.  It is designed to increase scout visitation to national parks, promote a better understanding of the NPS mission among scouts and their families, educate young people about their responsibility in conserving our natural and cultural resources, encourage volunteer service and promote good citizenship.  The link to the award is also listed on the BSA and Nature Awareness page of this site.

February 3, 2009:  You will notice a new addition to most of the pages on the ROAR website.  ROAR now has its own internet fund raising program.  Please purchase all of your printer, copier and fax supplies from ROAR INK.com.  Please encourage your family, friends, co-workers, office - everyone you know - to support ROAR as well.  YOU WILL SAVE up to 80% while supporting ROAR.  ALL PROCEEDS go to ROAR to fund programs and expenses.  EVERYONE WINS!!!

February 24, 2009:  The Boy Scouts of America asked ROAR to develop a supplemental training module related to Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly!.  The new module is available on the national BSA site as well as the ROAR site.

February 24, 2009:  A new training manual has been prepared by ROAR providing chaptes on lessons learned and implementation strategies that are applicable to all those associated with the Boy Scouts of America.  The manual can be found on the Boy Scouts and Nature Awareness page on this site.

November 17, 2008:  Nic Colasurdo provided links for 2009 Leave No Trace Trainer courses and Charlie Thorpe provided information for 2009 Leave No Trace Master Educator courses.  Information from Nic and Charlie have been put on the site.

June 12, 2008:  Jeff Marion provided PowerPoint presentations and a link to articles and papers he has completed as a result of his research work.

March 20, 2008:  Georgia provided three more links for the Girl Scout page.  She also provided a link a Guide to Basic Outdoor Ethics from the BLM.  Howard Kerns also provided a handout for the Master Educator course at Camp Trask this fall.

March 19, 2008:  Georgia provided another Girl Scout link for the Water Drop Patch.  The link is on the Girl Scout page.  New Leave No Trace Master Educator and Trainer courses have been listed on the Boy Scout page.

March 18, 2008:  Georgia Bosse provided two new resources for Girl Scouts.  Check out the Girl Scouts & Leave No Trace Fact Sheet and the Leave No Trace & Girl Scout Promise.  Both are located on the Girl Scouts and Nature Awareness page.

February 28, 2008:  Larry Burkholder suggested we add links to the children's survival Hug-A-Tree program and the Children and Nature Network.  It was a good idea so we did it.  Links are found on the Students and Youth page.
